Ubuntu Madness

OS or Operating System as we call it, is a program that consists of different softwares that provides users easy access to different computer capabilities such as document editing, program development, web designing, web viewing, and many more. These OSs nowadays are a big part of the computer community for many years now. It has served many establishments, individuals for different purposes such as document editing, graphic designing, web programming, gaming, etc.

The number one Operating System that is currently in use around the globe is the Microsoft Windows Operating Series. These operating systems offer an easy click-and-understand capability to different users. It also offers a user-friendly GUI that creates a more comfortable environment for them and easy access to different softwares that is fully capable with these systems.

There are many operating systems that have emerged within the past few years. I personally didnt have the chance to see and test those systems besides the famous Microsoft Windows and Mac OSX systems. Until yesterday...

I have been eye-ing Ubuntu for quite some time now. The good reviews it has on the web, the easy access to missing resources, the cool interface, friendly community, and the speed has made itself to my top list of priorities after graduation. Pursuing a programming career requires one to learn different environments in program development so I took one, and gladly I was not disappointed on the results.

The interface of the OS is cool, orange, gray and black, with a little bit of purple makes this OS an eye catcher. The fast booting and fast processing of different application also makes this a top-notch one. I loved it the first time I tested it and is still loving it after the few days of testing. The Ubuntu/Linux community is approachable and friendly unlike those I know of, which could only be approached with a wallet on-hand. Missing drivers are automatically searched through the use of internet.

On the other side, the applications are rather frustrating upon finding. For example, Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver are nowhere to be found in the os. So an emulator is installed (WINE) which proved very effective in the installation of my Office 2007 and other Windows Based Programs. Glitches and bugs on graphics could be seen but not that noticeable.

All in all, Ubuntu is the Linux OS for me. I would gladly offer my time upon learning and understanding how a Linux OS work and how could I be of service to the Linux Community, specifically the Ubuntu community. For everyone who would want to try this OS out, I suggest downloading *Wubi, a Windows Installer that would install Ubuntu in your windows os via control panel. To use Ubuntu, you just have to restart and choose the OS you prefer in the bootloader. To uninstall, log into your windows system and remove the Ubuntu OS via control panel.

It is time to learn new things, new environment, and new commands to further enhance our skills to fit in the fast pacing world of today. With a jam-packed brain of knowledge in our heads, we would surely achieve greater success in much lesser time.

Graduation 2011

It has been a mystery how time works its own wonders in the life of humans. One day you are born, then another day you made the worst-mistake-of-6th-graders, then you are with the most influential friends, then....

It has been, what, 15 years since we entered the realm of the academes, especially I...

During the past 5 years of our college life, we have faced numerous challenges that brought us to the tip of our lines that sometimes gave us thoughts to surrender everything up and give up the fight. We faced unimaginable characters of in the academy, encountered different sins and saw different shortcuts and breakthroughs. But through it all, WE have successfully tumbling those challenges down over and over again that led us to this moment...

This morning, we have received the final confirmation of our success in the field of Collegiate Academe- our diploma.

As students patiently sat through the program, as they fought their teary eyes, as they forced themselves to laugh in the midst of the solemnity, thoughts and ideas rummage through our minds- 'what is next?', 'what now?', 'how can I help them?', etc. Mostly, the students were not excited in receiving their papers, but rather excited in the challenges and opportunities waiting for them in the professional world.

I was one of those students with the mind-boggling thoughts rummaging through my head. I really do not know what would be next, I do not have the slightest idea on what to pursue, what opportunities to grab, and what failures might be in hand. Confused, I sat and wondered through that 5 hour program thinking what would be the best entrance in the gates of the corporate community.

I was lost in thoughts, lost in sight, lost in the future. My passion is creating programs and learning systems but deep inside I do not know what to do next. I know I have talents, I have skills, but I feel I am not ready. Just then, an unusual thought came into me. God have been there to provide me with everything I have been needing since the first year I stepped into the institution. That means that God has plans and has WORKING plans for me and for my fellow batchmates. NO NEED TO WORRY and just LET HIS PLANS HAPPEN. Then i just remembered something..

I have a part time programming job offered by Version791.com (Ma'am Maj Labindao & Friends) that offers not only experience and money, but also new knowledge and new challenges that would surely create a better Psalm out of me. God has mysterious ways of working things out, especially time. He assures us that there would be something out there that would offer many opportunities, it just up to us to see those things as opportunity.

Today, March 30 2011, am now a proud alumni of the EARIST College. I offer my deepest gratitude to those people who made a big difference in my life- Nanay, Tatay, Flor, Tim, Joy, Francisco Family, Figueroa Family, Friends, Best Friends, and to the Creator.

Friends, we have still lots of grounds to cover and this path is just the beginning. Do not forget that there is Someone who guides us, strengthens us, and provides for use. Let us see things as opportunities, not hardships. In time, we may realise that everything we have done since the very first day of our lives have changed our lives in their own differences. May this part of our life be a start of something new...

Congratulations Batch 2011!

if only...

"if only..."

There was a very lovely butterfly who captivated the eyes of many because of its graceful air-floating maneuvers and the beauty of its wing-design. Then there was a boy butterfly who flew low and steady to avoid unnecessary attention from different butterflies.

One summer day, the boy and the lady butterfly bumped to each other in a garden and fell into the petals of a large gummamela. Their wings were weakened and it gave them a large amount of time to talk and get to know each other very well. Since then, the two butterflies became friends and later became lovers. It was then that their whole world began to spin and grow in different ways they never knew.

As years went by, many struggles turned the butterflies' relationship upside down and went to twist and turns but in the end, they won their battles. Their passion for each other grew and grew in everyday they meet in that same gumamela that they first landed. Then one day, an unusual event came into the picture...

The lady butterfly had changed so much in the past week. She expresses her emotions too much that it looks like its so overrated. She tells things and promises things to the boy butterfly that is not equal to what she does and what she expresses. The boy wasn't silent. He always make a conversation with the lady butterfly with the hope that one day she would be changed and all will be back to normal.

Weeks, months have passed and still nothing has changed. The boy butterfly was so frustrated that one day he tried to end his life by cutting his wings and letting himself fall into lair of spiders. but he was too afraid.. Then one day, all hope had faded and the string that was once strong is now gone...

The girl who was very careless of the relationship now became loveless. She longed for the boy butterfly to again get her and convince her to change herself but there was none. There are still times when they talk to each other but the spark that was there before wasn't there at now. The girl butterfly didn't even came and talked to the boy butterfly because she was too afraid that her pride might stumble...

Years have passed and the pride that the girl held is now broken. It took some years to break it and make her realize that there was nobody to blame but herself for not listening. The lady butterfly searched for the boy butterfly but to no avail. She approached the gumamela where they met and flushed her emotions out by crying...

...She was broken because of a simple family problem and she made this a great issue that she pushed away everything, including the one she loved away from her. The boy butterfly always tells her that everything happens for a reason, maybe its a challenge for the whole family and only God knows where it'l end. The lady butterfly never listened to the boy butterfly and she continued to rebel and fight until there came the time when she was left alone by everyone, including her own family. The boy butterfly also told the lady butterfly that never ever consider a mistake as a solution to other mistakes but the lady still wouldn't listen. The sadness and frustration even broken out to several mistakes until she was completely untouchable. This made her life's contrast even more darker and gloomier...
...
...
...
...

A small etch on the surface of the gumamela were noticed by the lady butterfly. This made her tears flow even more.

Inscribed in the surface of the gumamela are the words "i'll wait for you", written in different times and different years, all written by her boy butterfly. Then she noticed that almost the whole surface of the gumamela have these inscriptions on it. She was very happy and very relieved that her boy butterfly forgave her and wants her to come back.,

She was preparing to depart to search for the boy until she saw another inscription. Written in the top most corner of the flower petal are the words "i'm sorry, but i think i have waited to long" and some kind of location. It was dated just the day before the lady butterfly realized her mistake.,,.

Still not losing hope, she went to the address inscribed in the petal. As she was near the said location, she fell down as if her wings suddenly froze. She crawled her way to the body of a dead butterfly lying inside a ring of carefully tended flowers. As she approached the butterfly, she realized that it was her boy butterfly, lying lifelessly on the ground. She suddenly broke down in tears realizing that the place was intended for her return..

...
..
...

During the time that the boy butterfly broke up with the lady butterfly, he became frustrated and lonely. For some months, he dwelled in a place where he took some time to think if his actions was right. There came a time when he knew God and at that same moment, he patiently waited for the girl's safe return.

He prepared a location where he plans to surprise the girl and convince her to stay once more and setup a ring of flowers to beautify the place. Every day he returns to the gumamela and inscribes the words "i'll wait for you". Rain or shine, hot or cold, winter or summer, he stood there patiently waiting. In addition, everyday, he tends to his flowers for the time where her love one will come back.

One day, he realized the way his body has been entirely sick. The boy butterfly still pushed himself to fly once more to the gumamela and inscribe the location of his surprise for the lady. As he landed, the light went out...

...
...
Lost for words, the lady butterfly only spoke out the words "if only..."..

"if only..."
...
...
...

Hope everybody got it...

Life

Life comes in different shapes, color, sizes and faces. Ever since the world began, people all over the world experienced tremendous suffering and also extreme happiness. Some are born with good life while others are not. Some survive, while others give up...

I had my own experiences of suffering and happiness throughout my growing years. I had experienced pain, near-death experiences and loss. I also had my fair share of friendship and love. Everything that happens to us has its own reasons. All we have to do is to see and understand them.

Almost everybody has gone through their own losses. From families and friends, grief will surely envelop every soul that it encounters and cloud their mind of judgement. Few have managed to look beyond that cloud and have started to "reconcile" or "let go".

A few years back, I have met a girl student in our university. As months passed, we became friends. As the barriers between us were broken, she had opened up some things that made me envy her and at the same time, pity her.

She is a great lady - A very hardworking student, lovable child, true friend. From the day she was born, she has been the subject of argument of her parents. Her father thinks that she is not his child. This lasted until his father died when she was eight. Her mother worked hard for their survival and because of that, she had managed to enter a university and continue her studies. Just days before the first day of class, her mother broke down and died because of cancer.

Tears fell from my eyes as I listened to her story, but also am confused because of the sudden brightness in her eyes instead of grief.I asked her how could she smile with that pain in her heart. Her answer changed my perspective in the world, and also my life.

"I did grieve for my mom, and also my dad. I loved both of them, and even my father. Because of them, I am here. I could blame myself for all of this but I just try to look into the reasons why this had happened. When my dad died, I was pushed to survive with my mom. Eventually, we became close, much closer than the previous years when my dad died. Because of him, I understood my mom and we became close friends. And for this, I thank him."

"I watched my mom suffer tremendous stress and pain by being a laundrywoman in our little barangay. Everyday she wakes up 4am to collect and deliver clothes in different houses just to fund my tuition. My mom died because of cancer. She told me that in the last week of her life so that I will be ready. I blamed myself for her sickness and had tried to end my suffering as well but I had realized something. My mom had gotten her sickness because of my tuition for my college. She worked hard for many years just so that I could eat 3 times a day. If I end it at that moment, all that I could give my mom is disappointment and more suffering. All she did was for nothing and I dont want that. After some time of praying and understanding things, I had managed to let it go. You see, everything happens for a reason, if you just look at it at the right place."

A sudden weight inside my soul have been lifted up. All my life I have blamed others, as well as myself for mistakes that is happening in my life. I have never realized the cloud that has blocked myself from doing better decisions. Thanks to her, I understood the reasons, as well as my purpose.

Life is not that cruel to us. Sometimes we may be on the top and sometimes we are down. We may not realize the things that are happening to us right now but always think of this:

"Everything happens for a good reason. If we just look beyond those clouds that cover our hearts, we might find the right answer that could enlighten us, and eventually, bring us up again."

thought: Zynga!!!

Zynga, one of most famous Game networks in every social website (myspace, facebook, friendster, etc.) made its name by offering "free" games that offer lots of "fun" for different players.

But throughout the years, many developments were made. Many so called "improvements" were implemented to ensure "maximum enjoyment" of players "worldwide". Wow... It is cool isnt it?

After the developments, all of its games (Farmville, Mafia Wars, etc.) now offer various limited edition items for CASH! And as time passes on, almost EVERYTHING in their games are now cash based.

During the last few months of playing many of their games, decrease of players could be noticed. Not only because of the "cash" issue, but the "speed issue".

Because of MANY MANY Improvements, the loading speed of the games were affected. Sure, there will be some side effects for some improvements, BUT this is not normal. Speed of games are now really SLOW. Unlike the few months and years back, old computers could still enjoy the magic of Zynga's games. But now, only Fast computers (new ones) could enjoy the game smoothly..

Lets just think about what would happen in the next few years? Could Zynga still be offering "FREE" games? Could Zynga's games still give us smooth and fun time with the net?

Just think about it...

Through out the years of our life, most of us ALWAYS long to have that HUGE dream come true..

But have we ever thought about longing for that simple things? The little things that always shows opportunity but we're too busy looking at the big picture that we cant notice it...?

Just a simple thought..^^,

Too Good to be True (Final)

Too Good to Be True

Candy was the first and last girl I ever will love…

It was 8 am at school when I met her. I had been chosen to compete for a Regional Quiz Bee or something, and my teacher, Ms. Alvarico, ordered me to go to room 509 and stay there. I don’t know what ill do there but I just immediately went to the said room and sat in one of the empy chairs. 7:48 am, the clock read on the wall. Students filled the room every minute later. After 15 minutes or so, this sexy but shy-type girl sat beside my seat. She smiled when I looked at her and I felt good.

The review lasted for 5 hours and we were all exhausted. As I was leaving the room, the girl that sat beside me asked if she can borrow my review notes for she had a broken pencil and did not had the chance to write more. I was a bit ‘captivated’ by her smile so I lent her my notes. We left the room chatting and there it started.. “im Adam”. “im Candy”.

After that meeting, I always long for her. I would always leave the company of my friends to be with her at recess,. Day by day I fell with her more and more, and I know she feels the same way too.

Then one day, as we sat together at the review room, I looked at her, and gently held her hand. My face showed embarrassed expressions. I expected her to repel, turn her back at me and be mad at me forever but she didn’t. I was about to release her hand when she firmly squeezed my hand with the words “Its ok”.

At that moment, I know I was in love… We were really sweet after that, even though we aren't together formally. We went to lunch together, I walked her home, and we laughed and shared stories together. I was falling for her deeply by every minute we spend together…

The last review day is up and the trainer is scanning her list. There would only be ‘two’ persons that will be unfortunate enough to be chosen. Candy was sitting beside me but she hasn’t been talking since morning. I tried to chat with her but she just gave me the "don’t-disturb-me" look. I patiently waited after class, thinking that it may have been a personal problem or stress that made her act like that.

I was really lucky to be left out for the competition. I felt relieved, for I really don’t want to compete. I just stayed at the reviewing room for Candy. But after that last day, she was nowhere to be found. Our campus was really big and finding someone is like a needle-in-the-haystack thingy, also, mobile phone receptions are a bit weak…

Days passed and I was getting really worried. I cant reach her by her phone. I don’t know what happened or if something really had happened. I need to talk to her, and make things clear…

Then one Friday, I saw her. She was sitting at one of the benches at the campus park and she was smiling. I felt relieved for I felt peacefulness in her. I sat beside her and again, I asked her things like, what happened, where you have been, and what is going on… She just smiled and gently held my hand, not saying anything. After a few moments, I saw tears flow down her cheek. Her happy smile was now becoming a frown, and I didn’t know what to do… I held her hand tightly and lifted her chin. I saw gloom and bitterness in her eyes... “What happened? You can tell me...”

That was the last time I talked to her…

“What happened? You can tell me…” I told her in a deep sweet, caring voice. I had tons of questions for her but still she didn’t answer. She just cried on my shoulder. After a few minutes, the crying stopped, and she held my hand more tightly that ever and whispered “I love you...”

“I love you too, Candy..” I said as I kissed her forehead… and as I lift her chin up, I looked at her eyes, and I felt the deepest love I felt in my whole life. Then she gently pressed her lips against mine and smiled. With the words “I love you” she disappeared….

I was shocked by what happened nor I didn’t know what did really happen but all I know is that Candy was with me. And now shes just gone, disappeared in thin air. I want to call her… I sat at the bench and the emotions I felt then was replaced by grief and despair…

*RINGGGGG* It was Candy calling. I felt thankful, for she was just ok and the things I saw wasn’t real. But just as I answered the phone, a familiar male voice talked and said “Son, Candy is gone”.

I dropped my phone at the ground with that news. I cant believe it. I know it was Candy’s Dad but what if it was just somebody that’s playing prank with me? I need to be certain…

I arrived at Candy’s quarter past 5 and what I saw made me drop down to my knees and cry. I saw her picture atop of a carefully placed coffin. I weakly stood up, slowly walking to the coffin and gently peeked at it. Candy’s parents were there and they suggested I don’t look but I still did. Tears flowed down my cheek as I saw who was placed inside. It was the same beautiful girl I met at the Review Classes at school and the same girl I saw today in the campus. Candy.

I can’t express how I felt that day. And what I felt when the parents discussed Candy’s problem with me.

“She has been diagnosed with cancer long long ago. We searched good doctors that could cure her but the diagnostic papers show it cannot be cured. We didn’t plan telling her but it was her right. She was really down that day, the last day of your review sessions. When she got home, she collapsed right at our driveway, and when we arrived at the hospital, she was in a coma. Last night, her heart stopped beating…” then she broke down in tears…

Feelings of anger, fear, happiness and grief flowed within my heart as I was watching Candy’s mom cry. Why didn’t she tell me? I don’t understand… then I felt something press against my lips..

Memories of the afternoon flashed within my head- the time when i saw Candy crying, when she held my hand with her, and when...she kissed me...

I just realized i have been crying aloud, like a child deprived of something it wants. My tears were cold and full of despair, as if it will be the last day I would live. I slowly stood up, not aware of the eyes around me, and slowly walked toward the door. Candy's parents didn't stop me. Maybe they know what Candy and I feel for each other, and they felt the agony within my flowing tears.

I walked slowly toward my apartment, normally an hour of driving, took me 2 hours on foot. I didnt quite know what i m doing, nor do i care. All i want to do is go there and.. well..wait.

Flashbacks of our memories went through my mind. I didnt know why in such a short time would Candy leave me. Why did she do this? Why so sudden? Without explanations? Then everything went dark...

..

..

i woke up in a large dusty bed, in a dark ward. Voices where all over the place. Fear wrapped my whole body, yet I KNOW where i am. I slowly walked toward the front door, and walked out towards a dark tunnel. Voices were louder than that inside the ward like they were just beside me. I walked towards the never-ending tunnel until a slight green light caught my eye.

A picture of Candy was there and it was OUR picture. The one in the canteen where we mostly ate our lunch. Her smile was the happiest of all i ever saw in my entire life, and yet i could never see it again. Tears were starting to build up once again in the corners of my eye, when i saw that the picture i am holding is burning away, turning into dark dust.

Then all i did is scream...

..

..

..

A lifeless body hangs in the ceiling of a standard apartment, a body of a man, holding a picture of a happy couple in a canteen in a nearby campus...

Givin' Up

Giving Up

Moving on was hard to do
Living alone, don’t know what to do
Thinking I shouldn’t let you slip away
I begged you once for you to stay

Moments have passed still cant find the thing
That particular fire I want you to bring
Somehow I waited for that to arrive
To show you I’m true, as long I’m alive

Still waiting for your call
Every night I pray until I fall
Hoping I’ll hear the words you say
“I want to be with you someday”

Time has passed and now I know
Waiting for you was not good at all
Pain and suffering is all I see
When you look back right at me

Now I know what I can do
To make myself look right for you
Loving you is not good to say
So “I give up”, no more I can say

Our Love Story

Our Love Story

I’ve been in this world for so long
Life and love, I know their strong
But as for me I don’t know yet
Why life and love feels like regret.

I made a pledge to love no one
After my dearest one had gone
Didn’t bother to look or to entertain
The Love world offers put such much pain.

Until that day when I met you
Thought you were somebody new
Just didn’t notice the times you’re near
And when you say “I’m right here”

Those were the times you love someone else
Can’t get your eyes off him, need lots of yells
Silently gazing his eyes meet yours
Pain stabbed me; my heart closed its doors.

You said love was really that hard to find
You're not expecting to find someone that blind
To love you for who you are and what you do
Its really hard for somebody to get through to you.

Working through books we found each one
Closer and closer we had much fun.
The times came when we write to each other
Then came times when we held one another

At last the day came I finally waited
The special moment my heart had waited
The day we said we love one another
Between the months of July and September

Now I am happily holding you now
Venturing through life’s challenges and paths
I could never forget the day I got you
And the day we said “I really love you”

Time of Change

This 3rd week of march, everything was a disaster. Enemies coming out of every corner, complaints rising every minute, unnecessary words coming out of everybody's mouth... This was a hard week for all of us..

It all started from a little trip to Laguna, which occurred on the 5th day of March. Everything was good and everything was in order, until sudden changes took place.

Everything was a blur, especially on our part. Decisions were made instantly and agreement was sudden, leading to misunderstandings that led to a disastrous battle.

Weeks passed, and everything seemed normal.. again... Until a meeting took place, merging groups of our class from 4 to 1, which is a good thing. The other group welcomed us and we agreed to comply to whatever their conditions will be.

From that moment, we started to build up hope and trust to our former colleagues (classmates). We would like to finish this year with victory and enthusiasm in our hearts. But still, problems were inevitable...

When the prices were laid down, we were shocked (honestly). We really didn't know how was it possible to have such a price when a project is almost complete. Curiosity took place but still, we haven't got the chance to talk to them.

After some time, issues started to emerge, and well, as expected misunderstandings also came up. There has been numerous posts and comments in a social site about almost all of us (our group), and everybody was furious. Tension started to build up and fear took place in others-particularly inside me.

Fear of the cancellation of the project, fear of an upcoming battle, fear of disappointment. This was my fears at that time. If our class adviser were to know about this, disappointment to the entire class will take place, and personally i want to avoid that.

...
...
...

Finally!!!!, it came. Misunderstanding came to a halt and tension that started to cloud us slowly faded away. Everybody makes mistakes because everybody is a human. Everyone forgives and everybody can be forgiven. It was really a BIG misunderstanding that led us to this, and fortunately ended it.

The Time of Change is coming and it is inevitable. We all just have to prepare ourselves and be as ONE. WE could get through this guys-all of 4th year.

And for the S.A group, thanks for hearing us out. ^^,

Kaya natin to! Aja! hehhe...

Bicol Inspection Trips!!!!!

Wow!! It has been a great week! I had the opportunity to roam and see different places around Bicol.

10 pm on January 10, we started riding out to Naga City. At first, we thought that there would be 2 buses to accommodate us at the said trip, but frustration struck us when we saw just one bus, one van (starex), and one pickup. Some of my friends decided to stay at the starex van. It will be too much crowded if we are to ride the bus.

Hours had passed and still darkness enveloped the roads from manila, to quezon province, to bicol area region. There we had a few stopovers for leak breaks and food breaks, but still it took us 13 hours to get to the Sampaguita hotel at Naga City (near Sm City Naga). At that day, everyone was exhausted, and the organizers of the trip decided to cancel our trip for that day.

Next day we had a busy time. We toured around the city and later entered several companies such as Coca Cola Bottlers, Sunwell, and many more. After that, we drove straight to Magayon Hotel (no comment).

The next 2 days we toured around some companies and some plant such as the Geothermal Plant in Tiwi, Bicol, Nat-Geo Park, Philvolcs, and many more. We really had a great time even though everyday was far more stressful that we had imagined.

The last day was one of the greatest. We had a chance to get to cagsawa ruins (is ths right?) and see the mayon up close (like in the postcards scattered around the country). We bought souvenirs and had fun in an open beach!! Wow!

Thursday 7 pm, we started driving back to manila. It was not as tiring as the first drive because it just took us around 6 to 7 hours to arrive at sampaloc, manila.

WE had fun, and we had a lot of souvenirs and i mean a LOT... Thanks to all the persons who supported my trip financially.

Tips for a Disaster...

Last week, a huge catastrophe struck our country by surprise, and many families were taken aback by the damage it has caused. Many were left homeless, many were left hungry, and many were left by their loved ones...

There are many reasons why most are suffering right now. Mainly it is because of unpreparedness...

Here are some tips to help prepare before a disaster strikes...

  1. Canned and dried foods can really come to the rescue in these situations. Purchase low sodium varieties and store them in a cool, dry place, making sure that you mark the purchase date on the product.
  2. Collect easy recipes that use these foods and store them right by the foods, along with basic utensils like a can opener, bowls, spoons, and plates.
  3. There are lots of shelf-stable items that are not canned. Look for juice boxes, stock and broth in boxes, dried fruits and snack items, and others that can be stored without refrigeration.
  4. Rotate your stock of canned and dried foods occasionally to be sure that your supply is fresh.
  5. Many fruits and vegetables will hold their quality at room temperature, so keep some of them on hand always. Apples, bananas, tomatoes, grapes, heads of lettuce, squash, onions, potatoes, celery, peppers, and other produce will store well as long as they are stored in a cool and dark place.
  6. Water is an important staple, not only for drinking but also for re hydrating dried foods. So keep a good supply of bottled water on hand, for drinking, cooking, and even brushing your teeth.
  7. At least a gallon of water per day per person in your household is the bare minimum.
  8. Before Hurricane Katrina, experts recommended that you keep enough on hand for three days' worth of meals, but I now think that's too little. After seeing the long response times to Hurricane Katrina's victims, I would recommend keeping at least one week of supplies on hand - two is better.
  9. In addition to food, your well-stocked pantry should include batteries, a radio, pet food if your household includes little critters, lots of bottled water, flashlights or emergency lights, candles, can opener, matches, and any prescription medicines your family needs. I recently found electric candles that run off batteries. They can last up to 24 hours, so are a good source of safe lighting.
  10. A first aid kid is also necessary; if you have the room, think about storing extra clothes and blankets too.
  11. Remember to keep your cell phone with you and make sure the batteries are well charged.
  12. Remember that if you don't have a source for cooling foods, you'll need to make just enough for you to eat within 1-2 hours. A cooler filled with ice is just fine for keeping foods cold, but it won't chill warm or room temperature foods fast enough to prevent safety problems. So either eat all perishable food within the 2 hour time frame, or discard it.
  13. If the weather is safe enough so you can grill outdoors, make dinner packets with heavy duty foil. These one-dish meals can be lifesavers; and cleanup is minimal.
  14. I'd also recommend stocking paper plates, cups, napkins, and plastic utensils. I ordinarily don't recommend these because they're not environmentally-friendly, but when you are faced with a water shortage, they make your life much easier, and safer too.

So there you go, we could never know when another catastrophe will hit us, and we could never know if it will be worst than other storms. We might as well be prepared..

Typhoon Ondoy

September 26, 2009, a huge catastrophe struck the larger part of Luzon, Typhoon Ondoy came into the country and struck many families with its wrath. Floods aroused at many parts of the country, dams overflowing, cars and people stranded, houses drowned, people missing.

The damage Ondoy has left the country is very devastating indeed. After September 26, Ondoy left many families in the Southern Luzon down and depressed for this typhoon damaged most of their belongings and worst, taken their loved ones.

I was in our house at Cavite on Saturday (September 27), when it came. Water was rushing fast into our home. Luckily, we were fast enough to rescue our electronic gadgets at our first floor and also our neighbors who dont have their 2nd floors built. It was a stressful week yet also a fulfilling one. Me and my family (together with our dogs and rabbits) had the opportunity to BOND again and spend this dreadful time with each other, we had the opportunity to HELP other people, and we had the opportunity to talk to God again.

After stressful days of getting water and cleaning the house (with no electricity) we are almost done. But what came to our attention, when electricity came up, and almost tore our hearts is the dreadful situations of many families scattered throughout southern Luzon (Pampanga, Marikina, Rizal, Manila, etc).

Please pray and help the families which was broken by Ondoy.

Friendster Private PHOTO warning!!!

<(O,O)>

You may wonder why i posted a "warning" on my blog, about Friendster's Private Photo?

Just this May, I read on one of the forums on the net that they have an exploit that could make anybody view somebody else's private photos WITHOUT their permission! Intrugued, i went to the said site and tested it on one of my friends (which they do not know).

I waited for just a day and returned to check my Friendster site and BOOMM!!! In my inbox was a message saying "You can view my private photo". Just to be sure, i asked my friend if they received my message to view their private photo. My friend asked me why, so i let 'her' look at my account and 'she' was shocked!. Yes, she was a SHE (no bad photos whatsoever)... I was amazed of the exploit but at the same time worries about other Friendster Friends that could become a victim of perverts.

That's why i warn each and evry one of you, yes EVERYONE including Facebook users, Myspace users, and other socializing site users to refrain from uploading "nude/sexy/private" photos in your account. Almost Everything in this world could not be hidden anymore, given the fact that some sites offer the best security. With the improvement of our technology this days, ANYTHING is possible.

"WARNING: BEWARE OF PERVERTS!"

Learn to encrypt your messages!!! (Al Bhed and English)

Wanna learn something new from uncle Sam?(Ya!! Sure!!) Ok!!!

Let me tell you a little bit something about "decoding". Decoding, for innocents, is a
process of changing certain characters of messages to hide or conceal the real meaning
it tells.

OK!! So we know what 'decoding' is, now let's try it!! For this tutorial, ill teach and show you
how to translate "english" to the Final Fantasy's Famous "Al-Bhed" Language. Knowing
this would be so cool!! Let's get started!...

First is we need the translation reference:

EnGLISH TO AL-BHED: A = Y, B = P, C = L, D = T, E = A, F = V, G = K, H = R,
I = E, J = Z, K = G, L = M, I = E, J = Z, K = G, L = M, M = S, N = H, O = U, P = B, Q = X,
R = N, S = C, T = D, U = I, V = J, W = F, X = Q, Y = O, Z = W

AL BHED TO ENGLISH:
A = E, B = P, C = S, D = T, E = I, F = W, G = K, H = N, I = U, J = V, K = G, L = C, M = L,
N = R, O = Y, P = B, Q = X, R = H, S = M ,T = D, U = O, V = F, W = Z, X = Q,
Y = A, Z = J
Now we have the translation reference, we can start now! For Example, if you want to say "I love You"
but you dont know any of your friends to know, try to change the letters to al-bhed.
Example:
(english) I Love You
(Al-bhed) E Muja Oui

Isnt that easy?!? Its fun when you get the hang of it. Oh, and by the way, the picture there is the
symbols of al-bhed letters (from left to right, a-z).

Have Fun!!

truth or hoax?

there are numerous articles and sites that suggest the upcoming 'world transformation'. As i was surfing and reading different internet sites, i came up with an article from a site saying that December 2012 will be the end of the world. Is this true? Who made this prediction? Is it possible?

The man who can see the future, the man who can see through time- Nostradamus. Way way way back before, Nostradamus has a history of "prophecies" that has happened. Some of which are: the first Pope, the founding of America, assasinations of the US Presidents, the travel to the moon, use of submarines, Adolf Hitler, World War 1 and 2, etc...

The point is, he has so many truthful prophecies that I still couldnt believe happened. Now, there is another book of his that was recovered. They called it "The Lost Book of Nostradamus". This book contains the future of mankind and the world. It has intriguing 7 paintings and other quartrains which researchers beleive is the sign where Nostradamus tells us there will be a major catastrophe that will happen.A "dark rift" some calls it, is a phenomenon where the planets and the Sun of our galaxy aligns in a straight line. This is what researchers believe Nostradamus is telling us.

If we still doubt his "prophecy", well how about the Mayans? We all know that mayans are the world's greatest Mathematicians. They are the first that developed a calendar, right? But here's the thing. The Mayans made a calendar system from their time until now, and its still working. But the thing that made researchers so confused is why does their calendar system stop at December of 2012? Is this another sign of a coming disaster?

If we also DOUBT the Mayan's complicated systems, well lets see the Bible. If we try to read the book of Revelations, and understand each verse, we will realize that many signs in the book is happening to the world now - economic destabilization, world crisis, epidemic outbreak, and more. Is this another sign?

Even though so much evidence and theories are formulated and shown to us about this 2012 world transformation, we still need to focus on our future. We still need to think of what will we make of our lives IF THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN. We still need to continue and pursue our dreams. ALWAYS REMEMBER, it is said in the Bible that Jesus would return for the Second Coming, but NOBODY and NOBODY knows when it will be.

Here comes the BIG Question......If the prophecy of Nostradamus, the mysterious December 2012 of the Mayans, and the signs of the bible are true...

Are we prepared?
